Don't assume your child will understand what's right and wrong. It's your job as a parent to teach them to be responsible members of society and the time to do that is now. It is your job as a parent to protect your kinds from internet predators.
It is in the best interest of the individual to leave the investigative process of a reverse email trace up to the professionals who are trained in this type of investigation.
Thesis include effective stress management, development of positive self-esteem, and ability to delay gratification for longer periods of time. Moreover, it has been shown that children who have secure attachments are better equipped to handle the process of individuation during adolescence which facilitates healthier psychological adjustment in late adolescence (Boles, 1999). On the other hand, it has been shown that prolonged parental separation and/or abuse, neglect, or insensitivity to the child's needs will ultimately lead to subsequent pathology (Sroufe, Carlson, Levy, & Egeland, 1999). Hence, an insecure attachment bond may predispose a child to further victimization or even to become a predator himself. For example, a longitudinal study conducted by Burge, Hummen, Davila, and Daley (1997) predicted eating disorders, substance abuse, and personality disorder symptomatology in individuals with Secure attachment not only protects the child from victimization, it also provides social competence and resilience for coping with adverse life events...insecure attachment patterns. Other risk factors of insecure attachment include drug use, greater incidence of personality disorders, and there has been some evidence connecting the lack of healthy attachment to dissociative identity disorder (Blizard, 1997). In addition, it has been shown that anxious/ resistantly attached infants develop more anxiety disorders during childhood and adolescence than securely attached infant s (War ren, Huston, Egeland, & Sroufe, 1997). Lack of affect regulation, poorself - concept, embedded rage, and faulty working models of intimacy increase the risk for victims of insecure attachment relationships to develop a more violent type of pathology.
Since there are so many different areas of online use, you must let your children know that they can still keep themselves safe while using instant messaging and chat rooms. You must protect your children by letting them know that it is not permissible to use public or private online chat rooms, as they are potentially in danger while talking to any stranger.
But what about the cyber dangers your children face online? Have you taken measures to educate your child in this regard? It may be hard to believe that someone can perpetrate a crime against you and your loved ones so easily.
In some instances people who become the victims of cyber stalkers attempt to uncover this information on their own through websites which claim to be able to get this data instantly. These websites are not very effective for this process and often produce completely inaccurate results. The best thing to do is turn to a professional who is skilled to perform a proper reverse email look-up in order to get the best results. The average amount of time needed to conduct an investigation of this sort is anywhere from 24 hours to 14 days.
While it is perfectly alright for people to start developing friendships with those that they meet over the Internet, one should still be wary of possible online predators or those mean people who are just waiting for a weakling that they could prey on. You can still chat with your newfound online friends though but make sure that you do not give out any personal information since you do not know these people that well, who knows if they will use such information for their own hidden agendas. It is okay to be friendly, just do not be gullible even it is just online games. Do not let anyone bully you into anything that you do not want to do. Also, make sure that you keep your computer spyware free by having your virus protection software on at all times. And if you will be sharing or downloading files with your online peers, do scan everything first before opening it! One can never be too safe from computer viruses and spyware these days.
